OLAF TUFTE


Norwegian rower, farmer and fireman.

Olaf Tufte started rowing late in life, and he had already turned 17 when he joined Horten Rowing Club. He showed an unusual physical talent for rowing and his international debut came only a year later during the 1994 junior World Cup in Munich.

Since then, Olaf has participated in 6 Olympics, winning the gold medal in both 2004 in Athens and 2008 in Beijing. He has also won several world championships and he has become the Nordic champion an impressive 11 times.

Other rewards Olaf has received includes “Aftenpostens gullmedalje”, “Fearnleys Olympiske Ærespris” and “Sportsjournalistenes Statuett”.

In addition to his rowing career, Olaf and his wife Aina runs Tufte Farm in Horten, where they arrange everything from teambuilding sessions to weddings and other celebrations. Olaf has also created the popular clothing line Tufte Wear.
